Game of Thrones director Jeremy Podeswa, and Martha Kaufman, co-creator of Friends were in Oslo last night to give out the awards for Best Scandi drama series and comedy series.
The awards ceremony closed the two-day TV drama festival Nordiske Seriedager (Nordic Series Days) held for the third time in the Norwegian capital (September 26-27).
The Norwegian football series Home Ground produced by Motlys for NRK and Swedish satire Grotesco-seven masterpieces, the Refugee Crisis a Musical produced by FLX for SVT, were voted respectively Best Scandinavian Drama series and Comedy series by a jury of twelve TV reviewers from leading Scandinavian media outlets. Both TV shows have already garnered several accolades in their home territory and international exposure.
More than 42 top Nordic and international guests speakers were on hand to discuss their works and current market trends and issues in TV drama. For instance Home Ground’s creator Johan Fasting and producer Vilje Kathrine Hagen debated on the difficulty to create a returning season, Norwegian star Ingrid Bolsø Berdal spoke about her role in HBO’s Westworld, SKAM producer Marianne Furevold and NRK’s head of format Ole Hedemann about the challenges of exporting a hit show, US director/producer Shawn Rech explained his working process on the docu series Convicting a Murderer, while Emmy-award winners Todd Kessler (Damages, Bloodline) and Gjermund Stenberg Eriksen (Mammon) shared their experience of working with their respective brothers Glenn Kessler and Vegard Stenberg Eriksen.
Norwegian premium TV shows sneak previewed in Oslo include NRK’s State of Happiness and Home Ground season 2, TV2 Norway’s Kieler Street, and Viaplay’s The Oil Fund. Nordiske seriedager was co-organised by NRK, TV2 Norway, Aftenposten and the Norwegian Film Institute
