The Fund’s current CEO will leave his position December 31st, to join Sweet Chilli Entertainment as creative director. Gammeltoft has headed Copenhagen Film Fund since its inception in 2013.
The Fund is financed through investments from the City of Copenhagen, The Capital Region, various neighbouring municipalities and contributions from the industry, including Nordisk Film.
In the last six years, the Fund has invested around €10m in high-profile films and TV dramas, such as The Danish Girl, The King’s Choice, and The Bridge (3 & 4). Recent productions backed by the Fund include the documentary series Scandinavian Star, TV drama The Investigation, and the documentary Flee, all set to premiere in 2020.
Gammeltoft has also been one of the driving forces behind the establishment of the first business alliance for the digital visual industry, Vision Denmark.
Jørgen Ramskov, chairman of the Copenhagen Film Fund stated: “Thomas has carried out a huge task in creating attention around the highly significant potential of the industry, both as a business and as a cultural driver. The Capital Region has every chance of becoming a centre of excellence within TV, film and gaming production with lots of jobs and growth. But it will require continued financial support, especially from the City of Copenhagen, if this potential is to be fulfilled. We will miss Thomas Gammeltoft’s commitment and strong will in that effort, but the board wishes him good luck with his new job, and we will now begin the process of finding a successor.”
As creative director for Copenhagen-based Sweet Chili Entertainment, Gammeltoft will report to CEO Sofie Wanting Hassing.
