Debut voices and internationally recognised titles dominated the awards, with Zinnini Elkington’s Second Victimfollowing close behind the night’s top winner.
Magnus von Horn’s The Girl with the Needle (Pigen med nålen) emerged as the most decorated title of the evening at the Robert Awards 2026, collecting eight statuettes (out of 15 nominations) and further consolidating its international awards-season momentum following its Oscar nomination. The ceremony was held at Copenhagen’s Tivoli Hotel & Congress Centre on Saturday 31 January.
Among the prizes were Best Actor for Besir Zeciri, Best Supporting Actress for Trine Dyrholm, and Best Cinematography for Michal Dymek, alongside awards for set design, costume design, make-up, score and visual effects, marking a strong cross-craft recognition from the Danish Film Academy.
Another major winner was Second Victims (Det andet offer), the feature debut by Zinnini Elkington, which took home six awards, including Best Feature Film, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. The film’s success underscored a broader trend at this year’s ceremony, where debut nominees featured prominently across key categories. In the documentary field, Mr. Nobody Against Putin (Pan Nikdo proti Putinovi), directed by David Borenstein and Pavel Talankin, was named Best Documentary. The politically charged work, also shortlisted for this year’s Academy Awards, marked one of the evening’s most internationally resonant wins.
On the television side, Secrets We Keep (Reservatet) was crowned Best TV Series, while The Asset (Legenden) emerged as the strongest performer in the acting categories, collecting three awards. The youth-oriented feature Honey also enjoyed a successful night, winning Best Children & Youth Film and Best Original Song.
The ceremony once again reflected the Robert Awards’ dual role: celebrating established creative forces while actively spotlighting new talent and first-time filmmakers shaping the future of Danish cinema and television.
