The three companies met in 2008 when their respective films Involuntary by Östlund, Better Things by Duane Hopkins (produced by Third Films) and Afterschool by Campos were selected in different Cannes sections. Since then, the Swedish, UK and US directors/producers have followed each other's film paths until finally agreeing to work together. "We share the same vision and ambition and have the same size of companies," commented Hemmendorff. Haillay for his part stressed that the three production outfits focus on form as much as content. "We've agreed to collaborate first and foremost for creative reasons."
To prepare for their own future projects to be shot in Western Sweden with Plattform and Film i Väst as Swedish partners, Haillay and Campos are spending a few days in Göteborg to meet with Plattform's crew members. Campos' new project Momma will feature family members tied together by an emotional and a financial debt. Haillay's project Bypass will be Duane Hopkins' second feature film, a morality tale about money. Meanwhile, Östlund's €1.8m Play - supported by Nordisk Film & TV Fond - is expected to be completed by mid-2011.
