The Swedish/Danish crime series wins Best TV drama of the year.
Last Sunday at the annual Swedish Kristallen TV awards in Stockholm, The Bridge III (Bron/Broen) beat other strong contenders comprising, Gåsmamman, Modus, Black Widows, The Most Forbidden.
Danish producer, Bo Ehrhardt (Nimbus Film) said: “Kristallen is a coveted award to win in a strong field. The award confirms that we have succeeded with our Danish-Swedish cooperation between Nimbus Film and Filmlance alongside our national TV stations DR and SVT. Like fine wine The Bridge only gets better with time. We’re now working on the perfect finish with the fourth and final season which premieres worldwide in 2018.”
As in the previous seasons, head writer Hans Rosenfeldt will write the final season and Danish Rumle Hammerich and Swedish Henrik Georgsson will be directing.
Besides Nimbus Film and Filmlance International The Bridge is co-produced by DR, SVT, ZDF, ZDF Enterprises, Film I Skåne, NRK, Lumiere Group, Copenhagen Film Fund, Ystad-Österlen Filmfond, with support from Creative Europe and Nordvision. Filming of season 4 starts in November.
Filmlance International’s other crime show Spring Tide backed by Nordisk Film & TV Fond won a Kristallen award for Kjell Bergqvist who plays detective Tom Stilton.A second season is in development for SVT.
-The Best Actress award in a TV drama went to Cilla Thorell for the mini-series The Most Forbidden, produced by Götafilm for SVT.
-The Best Children and Youth programme went to the vampire family series The Creepsons (Familjen Rysberg) produced by Nordisk Film TV for SVT.
-The Best Documentary programme went to My Life my Lesson by Åsa Ekman, produced by Film & Tell for UR. This was the first award in that category for the Swedish educational broadcasting corporation.
Swedish pioneering media personality Annie Wegelius was handed out an Honorary award.
Swedish pubcaster SVT dominated the Kristallen 2016 with 12 out of 18 awards.
