FLX’s Fallet (The Case) and SAM Productions’s Gidseltagningen (Below the Surface) will compete for Best Comedy series and Best TV drama respectively.

The Swedish crime comedy Fallet that aired on SVT last year will vie against five strong competitors at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival (June 15-19), including Amazon Studios’ The Marvellous Ms Maisel (US) and Clerkenwell Films/Dominic Buchanan Prods’ The End of the F***ing World (UK).

Fallet’s Lisa Henni and Adam Godley who play two unlikely homicide detectives trying to solve a gruesome murder, have each been nominated for Best Outstanding Actress and Best Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series. Fallet won Best Comedy series at C21 International awards 2017 and has been optioned by Showtime for a US version. Keshet International handles world distribution.

The Danish hostage thriller Below the Surface is running against six other dramas for the Golden Nymph-Best TV Drama such as Belgium’s Beau Séjour and the US’s The Good Fight. Johannes Lassen who stars as the head of the PET Terror Task Force, trying to save some hostages in Copenhagen metro, is vying for Best Actor-while co-star Paprika Steen, the reporter who acts as go-between with the police and the hostages, is nominated in her category. The series created by Kasper Barfoed from an idea by Adam Price and Søren Sveistrup premiered on Kanal 5 Denmark in April 2017 and on BBC Four last March. Studiocanal handles sales.

Other Golden Nymph Scandi contenders include the Swedish film Abuse and the UN (FN och övergreppen) produced by SVT/Mission Investigate, vying for Best Documentary.
