Netflix's The Young Royals was crowned Best Youth Series and Best Programme, and Bill Skarsgård Best Actor for Clark.

The production house Nexiko headed by Lars Beckung had much to celebrate at last evening’s Kristallen TV awards held at Stockholm’s Cirkus.

Its series Dough (Deg) co-created by Levan Akin (And Then We Danced), Mattias J Skoglund and Sara Bergmark Elfgren, got the upper hand in a drama category that counted some of Sweden’s most successful recent TV shows: The Congregation (Knutby), The Truth Will Out (Det som göms I snö), The Dark Heart and The Bonus Family (Bonus familjen).

The innovative female-led suspense drama Dough starring Helena af Sandeberg and Bianca Kronlöf had its launch on SVT in August 2021, after its world premiere at Series Mania Panorama slot. Newen Connect recently sold it to Topic for the US.

Nexiko’s other major series The Young Royals -which stayed a full week on Netflix’s top 10 list when it opened in July 2021, took home as anticipated the youth drama and best programme awards, although Edvin Ryding who plays Prince Wilhelm of Sweden in the show lost to Bill Skarsgård in the Best Actor category. The latter was awarded for his performance as criminal Clark Olofsson in the Netflix series Clark.

C More/TV4’s thriller The Congregation (Knutby) which topped the Kristallen nominations, picked up a Best Actress Award for Aliette Opheim, who was nominated with her co-star Alba August. Endeavor Content handles sales.

Viaplay also brought home one Kristallen award for Best Supporting Actor to Samuel Fröler for his role in the hit crime show The Truth Will Out produced by Yellow Bird.

C More/TV4’s all-time favourite franchise JerryMaja’s Detective Agency (Lasse Majas detektivbyrå) produced by FLX won Best Children’s Programme, while Kristina Lindström and Kristian Petri’s The Most Beautiful Boy the World (Mantaray Film) won Best Documentary Programme.

Nordisk Film & TV Fond was associated to four Kristallen awards for Dough, The Truth Will Out, JerryMaya’s Detective Agency and The Most Beautiful Boy in the World.
