The 6x45’ Olof Palme conspiracy series is due to premiere on Sundance Now in the US and Canada this September, with its UK date to be determined.
The Swedish comedy drama created by US-born Schiaffino Musarra was sold by Banijay Rights to AMC Networks for its streaming service Sundance Now.
In it, Musarra uses as a premise his experience as a US-born Swedish-based writer/actor, who considers for a brief moment the SEK 50 million reward attached to solving the 34-year-old murder of legendary former Prime Minister Olof Palme, as a quick fix to solve his financial problems.
Musarra who plays the title role as George English. teams up in the show with three unlikely partners played by Alexander Karim, Olle Sarri and Anki Larsson.
The series was launched on SVT early May, on the eve of the Swedish chief prosecutor’s announcement that he was finally closing the murder inquiry, naming a deceased man - Stig Engström - as probable killer.
We Got this was produced by Jarowskij for SVT, in co-production with NENT Group’s Viaplay.
Shannon Cooper, VP of Programming, Sundance Now said: “Sundance Now subscribers love to stream stories based on true crimes so this fascinating and funny approach to a real event makes for an extremely enjoyable series. We’re excited to partner with our friends at Banijay Rights to bring this true-life mystery to viewers in the US and UK.”
Sundance Now which offers its customers a large selection of original and exclusive series for streaming commercial-free, has also acquired recently the Finnish drama Shadow Lines.
