Ulrich Thomsen has the title role in the Danish/Faroese crime series TROM, while Sverrir Gudnason, Nanna Blondell have joined the Finnish film & TV thriller Omerta 6/12.

The crime show TROM supported by Nordisk Film & TV Fond starts filming in March.

The first ever original series to come out of the Faroe Islands, has been picking up industry attention since its first pitch at the Berlinale Co-Pro Series in 2019, when REinvent came on board as world distributor. The Copenhagen-based company is producing for NENT Group’s streamer Viaplay, in co-production with the Faroe Islands’ Kyk Pictues, Iceland’s True North and ZDF/ARTE.

Kasper Barfoed (Dicte-Crime Reporter, Summer of ‘92’) is directing, based on a script by Torfinnur Jákupsson and Donna Sharpe (West of Liberty), itself adapted from Faroese author Jógvan Isaksen’s novel.

Danish star actor Ulrich Thomsen (The Good Traitor, The New Pope) plays journalist Hannis Martinsson, who unexpectedly receives a message from Sonja, a young Faroese woman who claims she is Hannis’ daughter and that her life is in danger. Reluctantly returning home to the Faroes to investigate, Hannis discovers Sonja’s body in the bloody waters of a whale hunt. His search for answers soon brings him into conflict with the local detective chief inspector, Karla Mohr (Maria Rich from Follow the Money) as he uncovers a web of secrets in the close-knit community. The series will launch on Viaplay in 2022.
