Søren Malling, Pilou Asbæk, Pernilla August and Rolf Lassgård are playing leading roles in Miso Film’s event crime series produced for TV2 Denmark, SVT and Viaplay.

The six-part Danish series The Investigation (Efterforskningen) based on true events, follows the complex investigation into the murder of Swedish journalist Kim Wall in August 2017, led by Jens Møller, head of Copenhagen Police homicide unit.

Academy-award nominated writer/director Lindholm (A War) has worked closely with Jens Møller and Kim Wall’s parents to bring this sensitive story to the screens.

The top Scandinavian cast includes Søren Malling (A Hijacking, Borgen, Below the Surface), in the role of investigator Jens Møller, Pilou Asbæk (The War, Game of Thrones) plays accuser Jacob Buch-Jepsen, while Swedish stars Pernilla August (Star Wars, Britt Marie Was Here, The Best Intentions) and Rolf Lassgård (A Man Called Ove, The Hunters) are Ingrid Wall and Joachim Wall.  Other cast members include Laura Christensen (Below the Surface), Charlotte Munck (Rita, Follow the Money), Henrik Birch (Norskov), Hans Henrik Clemensen (Ride Upon the Storm), Dulfi Al-Jabouri (Follow the Money) and Anders Juul (Badehotellet, The Rain).

Lindholm said: “It is with great humility that I have gone into creating The Investigation. There is a great deal of responsibility in choosing to tell stories about violent events from the real world. Therefore, I am more than grateful for the support I got, also from some of Denmark and Sweden's most talented actors.”

TV 2's Head of Drama, Katrine Vogelsang added: “Having a great talent as Tobias Lindholm behind the project, both as writer and director, is in itself a huge stamp of quality and quite fantastic and the absolute dream cast from Scandinavia, will contribute to making this a standout series.”

The Investigation
is produced by Miso Film, in co-production with Outline Film for TV 2 Denmark, SVT and Viaplay, with support from the Danish Film Institute’s Public Service Pool and Copenhagen Film Fund.
