EXCLUSIVE: Dag creators have reunited Pernilla August, Gisli Gardarsson (The Oath), Jon Øigarden (Mammon) for a TV3/Viaplay TV drama pilot.

Dag writer/director Øystein Karlsen is collaborating again with co-writer Kristopher Schau, actors Anders Baasmo Christiansen, Tuva Novotny and producer Anders Tangen. The 8x45’ drama project tells of the home delivery service ‘The Green Jersey’ that acts as a cover up for drug dealing. Over the years, The Green Jersey staff has established a devoted customer base and no other service can deliver high-end cocaine faster or safer. But suddenly the scrappy bike messengers are thrown into a maelstrom of violence when new aggressive players enter the drug market.

“It is a great new character-driven comedy drama and we are pleased that TV3/Viaplay ordered a pilot. They are not afraid to do original and daring scripted drama,” said Tangen to nordicfilmandtvnews.com. “We have shot a 30’ short story of the first episode and will deliver The Green Jersey pilot in 2-3 weeks.”

Tangen who shares his time between Oslo and Los Angeles is also busy pitching to international buyers the spoof Viking comedy Vikingane created by Jon Iver Helgaker and Jonas Torgersen. The series tagged as a cross between Games of Thrones and Monty Python was launched in its entirety first on the web (nrk.no) on October 14. A week later the first episode was transmitted on linear TV, NRK1 after the popular Skavlan show. “It’s a brilliant slot and the first time NRK uses its Friday slot for drama. So far, we’ve had over 1.16 million viewers for episode 1 across all platforms and we’ve had 4 -5 stars in many leading newspapers,” says Tangen.

Set in 790 AD, Vikingane features a small Viking community dealing with contemporary issues, from gender equality to power struggle and family problems. In the main roles are Kåre Conradi, Trond Fausa Aurvåg, Marian Saastad Ottesen, Nils Jørgen Kaalstad and Silje Torp.

An English language version was shot simultaneously to the Norwegian version with the Norwegian actors speaking in both languages. Tangen is pitching the first episode to UK/US broadcasters and hopes to get a partner on board to finance season 2.
