Danish fantasy family film based on Lene Kaaberbøl’s best-selling book series started filming last week in Hungary.
Kasper Munk (You and Me Forever, Ride Upon the Storm) directs the ambitious adventure feature Wild Witch (Vildheks) adapted for the screen by Bo Hr Hansen (Speed Walking).
The film tells the story of 12-year-old Clara who discovers she belongs to a family of wild witches with a close connection to nature. In the title role is star actor Nikolaj Lie Kaas’ daughter Gerda Lie Kaas and Sonja Richter plays Clara’s aunt Isa.
The DKK 34million film is produced by Denmark’s Good Company Films, in co-production with the UK’s Nevision, Sweden’s Yellow Bird, Norway’s Cinenord, Hungary’s Proton, with co-financing from TV2 DK, NRK, Red Rental, Filmgear, Act3, The Gentlemen Broncos, support from the Danish Film Institute, Norwegian Film Institute, Nordisk Film & TV Fond and Eurimages.

The Danish theatrical release is set for October 11, 2018.
