The Swedish drama comedy series supported by Nordisk Film & TV Fond will premiere exclusively on discovery+ April 2.
Swedish country and pop singer/songwriter Jill Johnson makes her fiction debut in Udda veckor (working title in English Supermom), the latest example in a trend of Scandi celebrity singers turning to acting, after pop stars Tove Lo cast in the upcoming Swedish film The Emigrants, and Astrid S in the Norwegian family feature Three Wishes for Cinderella.
Johnson participated in the Eurovision contest 1998 and received several TV awards for the SVT show Jills Veranda, Nashville.
The relationships comedy Udda veckor
is produced by Scandinavia’s leading comedy powerhouses Feelgood Film in Norway and FLX in Sweden. Feelgood’s Kari-Anne Henriksen and Mia Hundvin are co-creators, with FLX’s Adrian Boberg serving as co-writer. Emma Bucht (Bonus Family, Solsidan) is concept director.
The story centres on the newly separated Frida (Christine Meltzer) who has big plans for a quiet life with her three children, after her divorce from Jonas (Linus Wahlgren). The latter was able to move on quickly with his new girlfriend Camilla (Jill Johnson), but single life comes as a shock to Frida.
Top Swedish actors rounding off the cast include Gustav Hammarsten (Midnight Sun, The Sandhamn Murders), Charlie Gustafsson (The Restaurant) and Vanna Rosenberg (Missing, Helt Perfekt).
“Udda veckor really has the potential to become Sweden's next big drama comedy,” said Maria Eriksson, executive producer at Discovery Networks Sweden. “It has a depth and an anchorage to reality that many will be able to relate to. “
Discovery+’s latest Swedish relationships comedy series Alla utom vi (How to Buy a Baby) starring Alba August and Björn Gustafsson premiered February 12.
