Released domestically by Nordisk Film, Simon and the Oaks is currently number seven at Sweden's Top Ten, with 110,311 tickets sold in a month. NonStop Sales is handling world sales.
The second most nominated Swedish film is Ruben Östlund's Play produced by Plattform, with seven chances to win a Golden Beetle, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Script (Östlund), and Best Actor (Kevin Vaz). Also competing in the top categories of Best Film, Director and Script is Lisa Aschan's first feature She Monkeys, nominated also for Best Sound. Another female director, Ella Lemhagen, is high up on the list of nominations, with five chances to win, notably for Best Music and Set Design. Three films are nominated three times: Björn Runge's Happy End, Simon Kaijser da Silva's debut film Stockholm East and the documentary film Black Power Mixtape 1967-1975 by Göran Hugo Olsson. Those titles as well as Play, The Crown Jewels and Simon and the Oaks were supported by Nordisk Film and TV Fond, allowing the Fund a chance to grab 34 Guldbagges.
