Patrik Eklund’s horror comedy based on Mats Strandberg’s novel has had 6.5 million views between Oct 16-22, securing the no1 spot on Netflix’s global Top 10 non-English language films.

Launched October 13, the slasher was in Netflix’s global top 10 for the second week in a row, with a total of 10.9 million hours viewed.

It was also well received by some major media such as The New York Times’s Devika Girish who picked it as her top choice among 5 international movies to stream now.

The story turns on a team building conference attended by municipal employees that spirals into a nightmare when accusations of corruption begin to circulate and plague the work environment. Simultaneously, a mysterious figure begins stalking and murdering the participants one-by-one. In some of the title roles are Katia Winter, Adam Lundgren, Eva Melander, Bahar Pars and Maria Sid.

“This Swedish slasher, arriving on Netflix right on time for Halloween, is about one of the great horrors of modern life: work retreats,” said The New York Times’ Girish…”The director Patrik Eklund crafts a lean thriller out of this premise, serving up sharp satire about corporate greed with a generous splattering of blood and gore,” she said.

The UK's Daily Mail also noted that “The Conference was aptly released on the streaming giant's site on October Friday 13, and has already earned a plethora of rave reviews from viewers who have been binge-watching horror flicks ahead of Halloween later this month.
