The Scandi major has acquired rights to the best-selling novel ‘Life 3.0: being Human in the Age of Artificial Intelligence’ by the eminent Swedish physicist.
The series Life 3.0 will be produced by Fredrik Wikström Nicastro, Senior VP International Production at SF Studios. Tegmark will serve as creative consultant.
As the venerable film institution SF Studios is turning 100 this year, teaming up with one of the foremost thinks in Artificial Intelligence is quite a coup. A professor of Physics at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and president of the Future of Life Institute, Tegmark is also a regular media analyst and commentator due to his ability to make science accessible to a larger audience.
Published in 2017, his book ‘Life 3.0’ was praised by Tegmark’s peers and became an international bestseller. Professor Stephen Hawking said AI is “the most important conversation of our time, and Tegmark's thought-provoking book will help you join it”.
SF’s Fredrik Wikström Nicastro said: “Max Tegmark has written a completely fresh and mind-blowing take on the awakening of super intelligent AI and raises one of the coming decades most pressing questions, what the dawn of artificial intelligence really means for society and the future of humanity. We really look forward to working with Max on this thrilling and entertaining show.”
The sci-fi series Life 3.0 will follow a group of young scientists working at a startup who discover the first sentient AI and envision ways in which it could be used to create a better world, which leads to a clash of ideals and morals.
The series is part of SF Studios’ strategy to ramp up international film and TV projects with Nordic talents attached, next to locally produced content.
