UK producer Kate Myers will develop English language projects based on Nordic IP and/or with Nordic talent attached.
She will report to SF Studios’ SVP International Production, Fredrik Wikström Nicastro who said: “Kate has impressed us with her deep understanding of storytelling and script development. She is an extremely talented creative executive with great talent relationships.”
Myers started her career Independent Talent in London. She joins SF Studios from Forward Films where she produced the UK independent comedies Grabbers, BAFTA-nominated Skeletons, and co-produced Kristian Levring’s The Salvation starring Mads Mikkelsen and Eva Green.
Before setting up Forward Films with Tracy Brimm, she was Head of Development at Jonathan Glazer‘s Academy Films where she developed Glazer‘s film Birth; and at Matthew Vaughn and Guy Ritchie‘s SKA Films where she developed Snatch.
Myers said: “I‘m delighted to join SF Studios to help develop its international expansion. I look forward to working alongside Fredrik Wikström Nicastro and the rest of the team to building a dynamic and exciting slate, and continuing the studio’s strong legacy of collaborating with outstanding Scandinavian talent”.
Earlier this year, as part of SF Studios’ expansion on the international market, the Scandinavian group signed a strategic partnership with European investment company Anton Corp to co-finance English-language productions, produced and sold international by SF Studios.
SF Studios’ next major feature film is Borg/McEnroe, opening film of the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7. English language films in development or pre-production include Baltasar Kormákur’s I am Victor based on an upcoming novel by Jo Nesbø, adapted by Bond writers Purvis and Wade, Horizon Line written by Josh Campbell and Matt Stuecken (10 Cloverfield Lane), and A Killing, UK remake of SF Studios’ successful Easy Money trilogy.
Parallel to its international slate, Bonnier-owned SF Studios continues to focus on local features and drama series for the Scandinavian and international markets. Projects in development include a Roald Amundsen biopic directed by Espen Sandberg and a new version of version of Vilhelm Moberg’s best-selling novel The Emigrants, directed by Daniel Espinosa.
