The animated kids series based on Josefine Sundström’s children’s books will be available in Danish, Swedish, Norwegian and Finnish exclusively on Viaplay from spring 2019.
Sundström’s Saga’s Stories (Sagasagor) follows the resourceful Saga Larsson (5) who lives on Solrosvägen with her allergic mother and somewhat stressed out father.
SF Studios’ producer Niklas Larsson and the creative team, including the original book illustrator Emma Göthner, will use each episode as a bedtime story for the target audience of 3-6 years-old.
Sundström said: "Children need to relax and slow down sometimes, and a series can definitely have the same calming effect as a book, while providing at the same time a deeper experience. We therefore want to produce this series with great care and keep the ‘read-aloud’ feeling from the books.”
Larsson added: “We met Josefine and Emma when they had just published the first book about Saga, and we are extremely pleased that they gave us their trust to extend Saga's world to a TV series. Together with Josefine and Emma we have put together a fantastic team, with animators, sound designers and music composers who have captured the spirit of the books and managed to transform it into moving images.”
Saga’s Stories is NENT Group’s latest original kids’ series, after Peppys Pals and Nexiko’s The Great Escape Christmas calendar series, which won Sweden’s 2017 Kristallen TV award for Best kids and youth series. Season 2 will launch exclusively on the Nordic streaming service on December 1st, 2018.
