Fridthjof Film headed by Ronnie Fridthjof, has a string of mega-Danish feature film hits to its credit, such as the comedy series All for One and Take the Trash (Blå mænd). Other internationally successful productions include the documentary Armadillo and youth TV series Heartless.
Commenting on the deal, Fridthjof said: "We want to continue to hone the quality of our films and draw in even larger audiences. We have a close personal relationship with many of the employees at SF Studios and are eagerly looking forward to working together. SF Studios with its team, its many years of experience and its strong tradition in the Nordic countries is the perfect partner for Fridthjof Film".
Yaba Holst, Head of Nordic Acquisition at SF Studios said: "Fridthjof Film has repeatedly demonstrated its excellent feel for what works with audiences. They are a strong outfit and have a bold approach that guarantees quality in all genres. It’s exactly what we need at SF Studios and it matches our vision and mission to become the public's top choice. We have a powerful team in Denmark, and I'm proud that we once again have managed to land one of the main players in the industry".
SF Studios has other existing distribution deals with the major Nordic production houses Meta Film, Miso Film and Creative Alliance.
Fridthjof’s upcoming film The Exception has a stellar female cast comprising Danica Ćurčić, Sidse Babette Knudsen, Lene Maria Christensen and Amanda Collin. The thriller based on Christian Jungersen’s best-selling novel just started filming this week in Budapest.
New cast members announced include Magnus Krepper (Liberty) and Olaf Johannessen (The Bridge).
Krepper plays the charismatic journalist Gunnar, and Johannessen the boss of the female power team, working in a small non-profit NGO in Copenhagen specialising in genocide and crimes against humanity. When two of the women start receiving death threats, they first suspect a Serbian war criminal, but as tensions mount among them, they gradually turn against each other. The Danish theatrical release is set for the fall 2019 with Level K handling world sales.
Fridthjof’s next ambitious film set to premiere on November 15, 2018 is Kasper Torsting’s In Love & War. The sweeping epic realistic drama set during WW1 will be released in Denmark by Fridthjof Film and UIP.
