Under the pact the Nordic group will contribute to the development, production and distribution of the upcoming films and series initiated by Denmark’s Deluca Films.
The long-established Deluca Film is credited for the Danish film hit All I Want for Christmas 3-The Magic Time Machine, currently number 1 in Denmark and number 4 in Norway, (see our admissions story: CLICK HERE) the romcom Hold by Hand starring Ulrich Thomsen and Mille Dinesen, which sold 192,000 tickets in Denmark, and TV2 Denmark’s crime series White Sands, sold by Newen Connect.
Commenting on their new collaboration with Aarhus and Copenhagen-based Deluca Film, Scanbox Entertainment’s Head of Theatrical Merete Christensen said: "We have already collaborated with Deluca for a number of years, under which period they have delivered films combining a large audience potential, a high production value and heartfelt stories.”
Citing the third instalment in the family franchise All I Want for Christmas by Christian Dyekjær and Lars Kaalund’s Hold My Hand, Christensen says “these are exactly the kind of films we love to work with, which is why we welcome this natural extension of the collaboration, and look forward to the next many projects we will launch together.”
For his part Deluca Film’s CEO and producer Morten Rasmussen noted that Scanbox has handled the majority of their films for the past decade. “They are super talented and always dedicated during both the development and production of both large and small films,” he said.
Among the forthcoming Deluca projects is the feature film adaptation of Jens Smærup Sørensen’s novel ‘Hjertet slår og slår’ (lit ‘The Heart beats and beats’), co-written by seasoned scriptwriter Bo hr Hansen (Darkness Those Who Kill, Journal 64), and Morten Henriksen. It’s the story of Kristian, who is on his way back to his childhood region, Himmerland, to say goodbye to his dying father. But the old man's patriarch's heart continues to beat, and a stream of memories about Kristian's upbringing start to emerge and grows into a story about fathers and sons and the impact industrialisation had on traditional agriculture.
Also in development is a feature drama based on true story of the rise and fall of building magnate Kurt Thorsen who ended up in jail for tax fraud.
Scandinavian group Scanbox Entertainment has distribution deals in place with various production companies including Writers Room Productions, Motor, and is majority shareholder in Iceland’s ZikZak Filmworks.
