Riders of Justice competes in 15 categories, three more than Another Round, while Cry Wolf and The Investigation scooped 5 TV nods each from the Danish Film Academy.
Twenty films and 14 TV series have been selected for the 37th Danish Robert film & TV awards, to be handed out on February 6 at an online awards ceremony.
The two Zentropa box office hits Riders of Justice (457,051 admissions to date) and Another Round (802,000) are both competing for Best Film, Director, Original Screenplay, Editor, Cinematography among others, with Mads Mikkelsen securing a nod as Best Actor in each of the films directed respectively by Anders Thomas Jensen and Thomas Vinterberg.
Also running for Best Film is Anders Ølhom and Frederick Louis Hviid’s feature debut Shorta produced by Toolbox, third biggest Robert contender with 11 nominations.
Christina Rosendahl’s The Good Traitor (Nimbus Film) and Malou Reymann’s debut A Perfectly Normal Family (Nordisk Film Production) round out the category and are both vying as well for Best Director. Each film totals nine nominations.
The Documentary section comprises René Sascha Johansen’s 7 Years of Lukas Graham, Eva Marie Rødbro’s I Love You I Miss You I Hope I See You Before I Die, Marianna Hougen-Moraga and Estephan Wagner’s Songs of Repression, Kenneth Sorento’s The Fight for Greenland and Mads Brügger’s The Mole.
Also noteworthy is Sidse Babett Knudsen’s double nod for Best Supporting Actress for the films Wildland and The Exception, while Another Round’s drinking buddies Lars Ranthe, Magnus Millang and Thomas Bo Larsen are all vying for Best Supporting Actor.
In the TV categories, two series selected for the Nordisk Film & TV Fond Prize - this year’s entry Cry Wolf and last year’s When The Dust Settles, are competing for Outstanding drama of the year, against Tobias Lindholm’s The Investigation, and the documentary series Scandinavian Star by Mikala Krogh and Wild & Wonderful Denmark by Henrik Zachariassen.
The 12- year old Flora Ofelia Hofmann Lindahl who makes an impressive screen debut as Holly in the drama Cry Wolf is nominated for Best Actress-TV series together with Asta Kamma August (Sex) and seasoned female talents Karen-Lise Mynsten (When the Dust Settles), Laura Christensen (The Investigation) and Lene Maria Christensen (Pros & Cons).
DR scores with the most TV nominations (16 for 6 series), followed by TV2 Denmark (11 for 4 TV series), Xee TV (3 nominations for 3 short series) and Viaplay with two nominations for Pros & Cons.
Nordisk Film & TV Fond is associated to 44 nominations for the films Riders of Justice, The Good Traitor, Erna at War, The Exception, All I Want for Christmas 2, The Fight for Greenland and the TV series Cry Wolf, When the Dust Settles and Scandinavian Star.
