The director of Reprise, Joachim Trier will go head on against Erik Richter Strand, director of Sons (Sønner) for Best Norwegian Film, Best Director, Best Script, and Best Supporting Actor/Actress (Victoria Winge in Reprise and Henrik Mestad in Sons). Although absent in the Best Director category, Uro's Stefan Fladbakken is well represented by his actors Nicolai Cleve Broch, Ane Dahl Torp and Ingar Helge Gimle.
Hisham Zaman who won an Amanda Award in 2005 for his short film Bawke, is nominated three times this year for his 52 minutes feature Winterland (Vinterland). Four other Norwegian films have two nominations each: Marius Holst's refugee drama Mirush (Blodsbånd), the chiller and box office hit Cold Prey (Fritt Vilt) by Roar Uthaug, Eva Dahl's romantic film Mars & Venus, and Bård Breien's quality debut The Art of Negative Thinking (Kunsten å tenke negativt).
The animated film Elias and The Royal Yacht by Espen Fyksen and Lise I.Osvoll is a nominee in the Children and Youth Category with Hanne Myren's Girls (Jenter) and Gunnar Vikene's Trigger. Girls is also running for Best Documentary against Porno Star? by John Sullivan, and USA Vs Al Arian by Line Halvorsen.
The Amanda Award which ends the film year 2006/2007 is organised by the Norwegian International Film Festival in cooperation with the Norwegian Film Institute.
