Hot on the heels of its international premiere at the Berlinale Series last February, the web series Sex (6x15’) produced by Profile Pictures for TV2 Denmark, has received strong responses from world streamers and broadcasters according to REinvent International Sales’ director of sales and marketing Helene Aurø.
Besides a fresh deal with Finnish pubcaster Yle, Aurø told nordicfilmandtvnews.com that she will soon announce a deal with a major German broadcaster and has offers from several other countries.
The earnest portrait of Catherine (20), her sexual difficulties with her boyfriend and attraction to a female colleague premiered on TV2 Denmark February 7, and collected five star reviews in the Danish newspaper Politiken and cultural publication Soundvenue.
“Short formats such as Sex tackle relevant contemporary topics that youngsters can easily identify with,” says Aurø.
Three new Danish series, all dealing with relationships, love and desire have been added to REinvent’ s spring catalogue.
When the envious leader Erik discovers that Samir has a secret, the group’s friendships are put to the test and new secrets emerge.
The series co-created by Mette Føns and Tomas Lagermand Lundme, will premiere on TV2 ‘s streamer later this year. A second season has been confirmed.
The two other short forms I Hate Love (Enten/Eller) and upcoming Cold Hawaii have been commissioned by Xee, joint Danish TV channel and streaming service launched early 2019 by YouSee and Fox.
“Xee is an aggressive new player in Denmark that has had great success with local content targeting the 20-40 age group, and we are certain that international players will also pick up on their engaging young-oriented series,” added Aurø.
REInvent International Sales’ spring line-up also comprises several high-end long running series such as the completed Finnish show Peacekeeper (Yle), the Swedish medical drama First Responders (Viaplay), currently in post-production, and Swedish/Danish crime drama in development Snow Angels (SVT/DR).
On the feature film side, REinvent represents SF Studios’ strong slate such as Ole Christian Madsen’s The Day We Died, Christina Rosendahl’s The Good Traitor and family animated film Pelle No-Tail.
Commenting on the current Covid-19 crisis and impact on REinvent’s activities, Aurø said: “The first 1-2 weeks of lock down were slow as people had to settle into home working and broadcasters had to readjust their programming schedules. But then buyers were active again, looking for completed programmes. Having SF Studios’ large library on top of our quality TV series is a huge asset,” noted the senior sales and marketing executive.
