Exclusive: Arne Berggren and Kristine Berg’s thriller series is the third production, out of a four-title deal concluded between Norwegian production outfit Shuuto Arctic and REinvent Studios.
The high-paced thriller Trace (8x45’) stars Madelena Sousa Helly-Hansen (Edderkoppen), Seda Witt (Exit, 22 July), Gard Eidsvold (In Order of Disappearance, Wisting) and Per Egil Aske (Eyewitness, The Tunnel).
We follow Monica Wollman (33) as she is preparing for a top position at the country’s leading cyber security company, when someone steals her identity and hacks into the country’s most vulnerable infrastructures. As Monica tries to find out who is behind the cyber-attack, she realises that she is not the person she thought she was, and someone is using her. She must learn who she really is to avenge.
The series currently in production was co-financed and co-produced by REinvent which also handles global sales. The show will be delivered Q2, 2023 to Altibox.
Outlier, the first series part of the deal with Shuuto Arctic was a hot title with international buyers, such as HBO Nordic, VRT that bought it for Belgium, SBS for Australia and Global Series Network for the U.K.
REinvent International Sales will introduce a teaser trailer at Mipcom Cannes next week.
The sales company is heading off to the international co-production and entertainment market with some of the most anticipated series from the Nordic region, including five new completed shows.
Two premium shows were commissioned by SVT.
Two other series produced by Swedish fast-expanding outfit Breakable Films are directed and written by Lina Åström (So Damn Easy Going):
Also new to the market as a finished series is the Danish youth drama Boys (Drenge), created by rising star Jonas Risvig, which received rave reviews when it premiered in August on Viaplay. The coming of age based on Risvig’s own experience of growing up in a small Danish town stars Dar Salim, Viktor Hjelmsø and Sylvester Byder.
REinvent will also introduce to buyers, season 5 of the hit Danish series The New Nurses, and a promo of the Swedish series Evil. The spin off TV drama based on Jan Guillou’s best-selling novel, was first adapted as a film, nominated for an Academy Award. The series co-directed by Erik Leijonborg (Hamilton) and Daniel di Grado (Jordskott) is due to premiere on TV4/C More in 2023.
REinvent’s team headed by CEO Rikke Ennis will be available at Mipcom Cannes market at P3.B13 with a large list of series as well as feature films from SF Studios.
