The 20th Children's Film Festival in Haugesund will open on August 19 with Stig Svendsen's directorial debut The Radio Pirates. The film starring Ane Dahl Torp and Fridtjov Såheim is produced by Håkon Øverås and Aagot Skjeldal for 4½ Productions. Sales and domestic distribution(on September 28) are handled by Nordisk.

Radio Pirates is based on a radio play by Gunnar Germundsson that was aired on NRK, the film is the story of Karl Jonathan and his father who move back to the father's rundown childhood home which has been transformed into a model community of perfect security.

This year's 35th Norwegian International Film Festival in Haugesund will be inaugurated on August 17 with the Amanda Awards ceremony transmitted live by TV2 Norway. Members of the jury led by Sissel Benneche Osvold are filmmaker Erik Poppe, actresses Iram Haq, Trine Csango, and writer Hans Petter Blad. 13 awards will be handed out, including the newly reinstated Best Documentary Award. During the seven day's festival which will close on August 24, several sections will complement the official programme such as Cinema Italia, the French Touch, the Critics' Week and for film professionals, the 13th New Nordic Films (August 21-24) and the 2nd Co-production market (August 22-24).
