The Swedish feelgood movie directed by Annika Appelin just started filming in and around Göteborg for Anagram Sweden.
Seasoned script supervisor Annika Appelin who has worked on award-winning films such as The Hunt, What Will People Say, is making her directorial debut with Tuesday Club, adapted for the screen by Anna Fredriksson from her own best-selling novel.
Appelin says she wants to create “a feelgood film, sprinkled with deeper questions, embracing human strength and weakness through excellent actors in a sweet and sour mix, encouraging the audience to dream bigger.”
In the film Karin (Marie Richardson) and Sten (Björn Kjellman) are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. While their friends toast to their happiness, Karin discovers that Sten has been unfaithful. After having spent her life supporting her husband and their daughter, Karin has to re-evaluate her choices. At a cooking class, she meets Henrik (Peter Stormare), a charismatic chef, and discovers that it’s never too late to follow your dreams.
Other cast members include Sussie Eriksson, Carina M Johansson (Springtide), Ida Engvoll (Love & Anarchy), Klas Wiljergård (A Man Called Ove) and Maria Sid (All the Sins).
Tuesday Club is produced by Jessica Ask and Åsa Karlsson for Anagram Sweden, in co-production with SF Studios, Film i Väst, C More/TV4, with the support from the Swedish Film Institute.
SF Studios will release it domestically in 2022.
