The Norwegian hit youth series produced by Fenomen and Storyline won a record seven TV awards including Best TV Drama, Best Screenplay and Best Actor.
Hailed by the local press as one of the strongest youth series since SKAM, the eight-part youth series Rod Knock season 2 (Rådebank 2) triumphed at this year’s in-person Norwegian Emmy or Gullruten TV awards, split between Friday’s Gullruten Fagprisen (Gullruten Industry awards) and Saturday’s main Gullruten awards.
The series picked up Best TV Drama of the Year-beating strong competition from Netflix’s Home for Christmas 2, NRK’s other series Norsk-ish and Exit 2.
In the Best Acting category, Rod Knock’s rising talent Odin Waage was crowned Best Actor, and seasoned actor Sven Nordin won Best Supporting Role.
The series creator/writer Linn-Jeanethe Kyed (attached to the Oscar-nominated short Tuba Atlantic) won Best Screenplay and Daniel Fahre Best Director, while Mats Lid Stølen scooped Best Sound Design and Torgrim Forbergskog Best Props.

season 2 features a group of young male gearheads in the small town of Bø in Norway, and their emotional lives. The returning season’s focus on the tough subject of suicide, portrayed with warmth and honesty has turned it into NRK’s latest hit both with local critics and viewers. Season 1 was backed by Nordisk Film & TV Fond.
Another major Gullruten winner was Benjamin Ree’s documentary The Painter and the Thief produced by Medieoperatørene for VGTV, which scooped four awards - Best TV Documentary, Best Editing Documentary (Robert Stengård), Best Director Single Camera Documentary (Ree) and Best Original Music (Uni Helmersson).

NRK was the overwhelming winner among local broadcasters and platforms, with 12 Fagpriser out of 20 and 13 Gullruten awards out of 21.
The Norwegian TV branch also handed out honorary awards to Discovery/TV Norge’s former head of programming Eivind Landsverk, and NRK’s sound designer Fredrik Berg.
The Gullruten Awards were awarded to Norwegian programmes that premiered between March 18, 2020 and April 26, 2021.
