In its second weekend, the French Oscars entry The Untouchables has taken Danes by storm, pushing The Twilight Saga-Breaking Dawn 2 (Nordisk Film) from first to third place last weekend and letting Skyfall keep its second place after six weeks. The success of the French comedy has triggered Scanbox to increase the print run from 79 to 91 pushing admissions up to 134,045 in only two weeks. The only Nordic title that found a place in the Top Ten Denmark otherwise filled with US fare is Niko 2-Little Brother, Big Trouble (Nordisk Film) that climbed from nine to eight place in its fifth week, thanks to a larger print run (73 instead of 67 the previous weekend). Total admissions for the Finnish animation film are at 38,340. The first Danish film in the Top local chart is Hella Joof's comedy Almost Perfect (pictured - Sover Dolly på ryggen) number 11 with 196,688 tickets sold after nine weeks for Nordisk Film.
In Finland James Bond keeps a good grip of the local chart, with a screen average much higher than the rest of the films on offer, after six weeks on screens. Sam Mendes's film has been seen by 554,881 Finns so far. Three new titles made their entry in the Finnish Top Ten: DreamWorks's 3D film Rise of the Guardians opened at number two for Finnkino/Paramount, selling 12,881 tickets from a massive 160 screens; the French film The Untouchables opened at number four for Scanbox, attracting a decent 10,513 people from 43 screens. Brad Pitt's vehicle Killing Me Softly came in at number 6 for Future Film, selling 3,007 tickets from 27 screens. The first Nordic title in the Top ten: Niko 2 Little Brother, Big Trouble sold another 2,107 tickets from 45 screens, but fell from number four to seven in its eighth week. Total tickets sold so far for Nordisk Film are 143,749. Another Finnish film, the thriller Nightmare-Painajainen merellä came in at number ten only from preview screenings selling 1,383 tickets from 10 screens.
In Iceland Skyfall climbed back up from second to first place at the Top chart. Total admissions for Myndform are 75,229 after six weeks. The distributor's new release Killing Me Softly opened at number two. Niko, Little Brother Big Trouble was number eight for Sena in its second weekend. Sena's new Nordic release Nobel's Last Will opened at number 14 and its other crime thriller Easy Money 2 was number 19. Meanwhile the Icelandic Oscars entry The Deep is slowly increasing its box office take after 11 weeks on national screens. Total admissions have reached 49,065 for Sena.
In Norway Nils Gaup's Journey to the Christmas Star is holding on to number one after a month on national screens. The film is still playing on 115 screens thanks to Walt Disney's strong back up and total admissions are at 289,258. Three other Norwegian offerings were in the Top Ten last weekend. The classic Norwegian tale Folk og røverer I kardemomme from Thorbjørn Egner's children's book was performed at Oslo's National Theatre on Saturday afternoon, transmitted live on 60 screens across Norway and sold 4,553 tickets, the sixth best weekend results. The thriller Dunderland by Finn-Erik Rognan and Nils J Nesse opened at number nine for Euforia Film, selling 1,644 tickets, finally the biggest hit of the year Kon-Tiki managed to stay at number ten in its 15th week. Total admissions have now reached 878,642 for the Nordisk Film release.
In Sweden Karzan Kader's feature debut Bekas opened on just 18 screens for a total of 4,058 admissions coming in at a respectable number eight for SF. The film had the third best screen average after the number one film at the box office Skyfall (SF) and number two title The Twilight Saga Part 2 (Nordisk Film). The other Swedish film Call Girl was number six for Nordisk Film. The film is still playing on 91 screens after a month and cumulated admissions are at 86,881.
Scanbox is still enjoying the performance of the documentary Palme, playing at number 16 after 12 weeks. Total admissions have reached a phenomenal 235,767. Another amazing performer for Scanbox is the French comedy The Untouchables, still playing at number five in Sweden after 11 weeks. The film added 8,122 admissions from 75 screens, pushing the total numbers to 349,369.
