The nominated films will be screened in all the Nordic countries. Since 2025 this includes screenings in Greenland, and from 2026 also on Faroe Islands.

After the nominated films for the Nordic Council Film Prize 2026 have been announced (24 August), an official nomination ceremony will follow 25 August at the Norwegian International Film Festival Haugesund, where the nominated filmmakers meet each other and introduce their films to the festival audience.

Screenings of the nominated films will be arranged in the whole Nordic region as follows: Haugesund-Norway (25-27.08), Nuuk-Greenland (16-19.09), Helsinki-Finland (17-27.09) Aarhus-Denmark (01-08.10), Tórshavn-Faroe Islands (07-09.10), Reykjavik-Iceland (08-10.10), and Stockholm-Sweden (08-11.10). The screenings outside Haugesund are organised by Nuuk International Film Festival, Helsinki International Film Festival, Aarhus Series & Film Festival, the Nordic House in Torshavn, Bíó Paradis and Stockfish Film & Industry Festival, and Stockholm International Film Festival.

The national juries in all the Nordic regions will decide on their final nominations within May. The Nordic jury is made up of the chairs of each of the national juries. For 2026 this includes Danish Jacob Ludvigsen, Finnish Marjo Pipinen, Icelandic Jóna Finnsdóttir, Norwegian Anne Gjelsvik, Swedish Jonas Holmberg, and Faroese Jan Berg Jørgensen. Greenland is not submitting a film for the 2026 prize.

All winners across the Nordic Council’s culture prizes will be announced on 20 October, including the Literature Prize, the Children and Literature Prize, the Music Prize, the Environment Prize, and the Film Prize. The winners will be celebrated at the award ceremony held on October 27 in Helsinki, Finland.

Apart from hosting the yearly award ceremony the Norwegian International Film Festival in Haugesund has a special focus on Nordic films at its co-production market New Nordic Films. Currently, New Nordic Films is inviting companies to submit projects in development to the Nordic Co-production Market, and films in production to the Work in Progress screenings.
