Nordisk Film partners with global entertainment company – NFTVF asked how the Nordic film industry will benefit from the deal.

This week, the Nordic film industry received the news that Nordisk Film has signed a distribution agreement with the global entertainment company A24. Nordisk Film will handle the distribution of A24's films in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland.

In a press release, Kenneth Wiberg, Senior Vice President at Nordisk Film, stated that "A24’s films are a perfect match to excite and entertain Nordic audiences."

NFTVF asked Klaus Træholt Odegaard, VP Theatrical Distribution and Acquisitions at Nordisk Film, how the distribution agreement will benefit the Nordic film industry:

“Through its relatively few years in operation, A24 has proven that its distinct films have an increasing audience in Nordic cinemas. That in itself is very interesting and important from an industry perspective as these types of films are truly unique and relevant, and what an increasing audience segment is looking for. We think that A24 in many ways represent bold and aspirational filmmaking and distribution, something that we in the Nordics are also known for, and should look to constantly improve on.”

Træholt Odegaard cannot comment on whether A24 will distribute Nordic films in the future but says “their focus until now has been on mostly English-language films.”

The first titles covered by the new distribution deal includes Josh Safdie’s comedy Marty Supreme, Benny Safdie’s sports drama The Smashing Machine, Mark Anthony Gordon’s horror thriller Opus, Alex Garland’s action picture Warfare, Alex Scharfman’s comedy thriller Death of a Unicorn and Ari Aster’s thriller Eddington.

A24 has previously worked together with Nordisk Film on titles including Hereditary, Midsommar, The Iron Claw, and Oscar-winning The Whale.
