Finnish actress Maria Sid (Nurses) will host the Nordic Council prizes ceremony to be held on November 1st at Helsinki’s Finlandia Hall and broadcast live on YLE Areena.
Last year’s Nordic Council Film Prize winner Joachim Trier (Louder than Bombs) will hand out the 2017 award to one of this year’s five film candidates: Denmark’s Parents by Christian Tafdrup (Nordisk Film Production), Finland’s Little Wing by Selma Vilhunen (Making Movies), Iceland’s Heartstone by Guðmundur Arnar Guðmundsson (SF Studios/Join Motion Pictures), Norway’s Hunting Flies by Izer Aliu (The End), and Sweden’s Sámi Blood by Amanda Kernell (Nordisk Film Production).
The DKK 350,000 prize will be shared equally between the screenwriter, director and producer of the winning film.
Other prizes to be awarded on Wednesday during the Session of the Nordic Council in Helsinki include the Literature Prize, the Children and Young People’s Literature Prize, the Music Prize and the Environment Prize.

SVT will broadcast the ceremony live on SVT Play from 18.45 (SE time) with a repeat on SVT2 November 25 between 18.00-19.00, while NRK has programmed it on Saturday November 4 on NRK2.
