Exclusive: The high profile executive currently working at the Danish Film Institute as Head of International will join DR Sales’ team April 14, 2020.
Ferrer Schwenk who has worked for the DFI since 2011, will take on the newly created position of Executive Producer, Partnerships and Pre-sales at DR Sales, reporting to Rikke Kristine Nissen, Executive Director, DR Sales & DR Business Affairs who said: “I am delighted to announce that Noemi Ferrer Schwenk has taken this new role at DR Sales and we are indeed looking forward welcoming her in April. Noemi is coming from a role as Head of the International Department at the Danish Film Institute and International Producer, and brings to DR Sales an extremely solid network and in-depth knowledge of the national and international industry."
“Prior to her work at the DFI, Noemi has worked with financing and production of fiction at the Danish production company Zentropa, Eurimages in France, at the Irish Film Board and Prokino Filmverleih in Germany. Besides a very international professional background, Noemi is also an international figure herself, being half-German and half-Spanish, and having lived in several European countries and speaking six languages fluently!”
Ferrer Schwenk ’s role will be to raise pre-financing for DR Sales’ high quality drama and documentaries, and to establish partnerships on the international market. She will work with Freja Johanne Nørgaard Sørensen, Executive Sales & Acquisition Manager and Kim Christiansen, Executive Producer & Editor.
Ferrer Schwenk said: “DRs TV drama series are loved and recognised worldwide and stand for excellent qualitative and meaningful storytelling. This is of key importance in these times, where there is a deluge of TV drama output. Therefore, I am truly excited about joining Rikke Kristine Nissen and her team and to be working with the financing and pre-sales of DRs TV drama series.”
Next to Ferrer Schwenk, DR Sales’ latest recruit is Metter Bjerregaard, Sales Manager. “Mette brings to DR impressive results within strategic communication, sales, marketing and campaigns and lots of good energy” commented Nissen.
Most recently, she worked as an impact producer for Danish production outfits Meta Film, House of Real and Good Company Pictures among others. Before that she was producer at The Why Foundation on the series Why Women? and Why Slavery? She also worked at CPHDOX’s co-production and financing platform CPH:FORUM.
Bjerregaard will work alongside the existing sales manager Camilla Maria Saabye Krog.
DR Sales handles rights to more than 500 hours of programmes produced or co-produced by the Danish public broadcaster, alongside third party Nordic acquisitions.
The international sales outfit also licenses rights to its large back catalogue including an array of cult and acclaimed series, from The Killing, Borgen, The Legacy, Ride Upon the Storm to Follow the Money.
Berlinale Lineup
At the 70th Berlinale, heading DR Sales’ slate are two premium series produced by DR Drama, with support from Nordisk Film & TV Fond.
Also on DR Sales’ line up are several high quality documentaries, such as the CPH:DOX opening film The Fight for Greenland by Kenneth Sorento, due to compete for the festival’s main DOX:Award.
Other CPH:DOX selections are The Campaign Against the Climate by Mads Ellesøe and A Gift From God by Jørgen and Nefise Lorentzen, focusing on Turkish President Erdogan and the attempted coup in Turkey in 2016.
