Company closes after 5 months of operation. Zentropa's CEO Lars von Trier and Peter Aalbæk Jensen have closed down their Danish distribution arm Trust Distribution (TD), just five months after its founding.

Five staff members of Trust have been made redundant: CEO Maja Dyekjær Giese, theatrical manager Jimmy Bredow, PR and marketing coordinators Alexandra Emilia Kida and Maia Schwartz, as well as Karina Hjort, traffic assistant.

TD was set up last January with the goal of releasing around six films a year, mostly Zentropa projects. The first title to open was Anders Rønnow Klarlund's political satire How to Get Rid of Others which sold 13,135 tickets from 15 screens. However the big disappointment for Zentropa and Trust was Lone Scherfig's Just like Home (Hjemve) released last March. The comedy which had many elements in common with the director's previous local hit Italian for Beginners (828,000 admissions in 2000) drew in only 62,065 cinemagoers, triggering Zentropa's decision to withdraw fully from Danish theatrical distribution.

Zentropa's international sales arm Trust Film Sales which often raises sizable sums of co-financing for Zentropa's productions will continue to be run by sales executives Natja Rosner, Sofie Nyholm and Thomas Mai who will soon be joined by Rikke Ennis, currently on maternity leave.

Peter Aalbæk Jensen was unavailable for comment.
