Danish star actor Nikolaj Lie Kaas (pictured) who is currently on world screens with The Keeper of Lost Causes has joined the cast of DR’s new flagship series Follow the Money, currently filming in Denmark.
The TV drama in 10 episodes set in the world of financial crime has the new Danish title of Bedraget and will premiere on DR’s prime time 20.00 slot on January 2016. Nikolas Lie Kaas plays Alexander Sødergren, CEO of the big enterprise Energreen specialising in sustainable energy. Next to him are actors Thomas Bo Larsen (The Hunt) who has the title role of Mads, an investigator from the fraud squad, newcomers Natalie Madueño Wolsberg who plays the ambitious young lawyer Claudia, and Esben Smed, cast as a Nicky, a former criminal trying to go back on the right track. Other cast members are Thomas Hwan, Waage Sandø, Stine Stengade, Line Kruse, Lars Simonsen and Henrik Noël Olesen.
Jeppe Gjervig Gram, co-writer of Borgen is head-writer and shares the writing credit with Anders August who penned three episodes of The Legacy and co-wrote the script for the film A Funny Man, and Jannik Tai Mosholt, episode writer of the series Borgen and Park Road /Lærkevej.
Per Fly is concept director and Anders Toft Andersen producer for DR Fiktion. The series co-financed by SVT, NRK and YLE was supported by Nordisk Film & TV Fond.
According to the producer, filming of the first season of Follow the Money should wrap in April and the next 10 episodes of season two will start immediately. DR Sales handles world distribution.
DR’s next flagship series to premiere domestically are 1864, scheduled for next month, and season two of The Legacy/Arvingerne ready to air early 2015.
