The production company behind the series Midnight Sun, Thicker than Water and the upcoming film Alone in Space has a new CEO in Alexander Tanno.
The appointment was announced yesterday by parent company Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT group). Tanno will move to Nice Drama on October 1st from his current position as Content Strategy and International Co-productions for NENT Group’s streaming service Viaplay. He will replace Nice’s CEO Mikael Wallen, who will continue working with content development in a new role at NENT Group.
Alexander Tanno said: “Nice Drama is an outstanding company with a super impressive track record of producing high quality scripted series and films. My ambition is to build on the company’s expertise while expanding our scale and scope into new genres and collaborations. I also very much look forward to working with our international colleagues and sister companies within NENT Studios.”

Henrik Jansson-Schweizer, Nice Drama founder, creative director and exec producer added: "It’s been ten years now since we created Nice Drama and we’ve had a fantastic ride. We will miss Mikael, but we are also extremely happy to have Alex aboard. We believe he will push the limits even further in terms of us continuing to create and deliver high end series and features for the Scandinavian and international market.”
Nice Drama’s previous recruit was Real Humans’ creator Lars Lundström who now focuses on strengthening the company’s scripted content. Upcoming TV drama projects include Lundström’s scripted sci-fi series Hope, co-produced with Warner Belgium.
Nice Drama’s upcoming feature film Alone in Space directed by Ted Kjellsson opens this Friday in Sweden. The family adventure film produced by Sonja Hermele, Anna Knochenhauer and Stefan Baron, has been selected for the London Film Festival.
In a separate announcement, NENT Group said Vegard Klubbenes Drogseth, previous Head of Pay TV Norway within the group, as such responsible for Viaplay in Norway, has juts been appointed CEO of NENT Group Norway in replacement of Morten Ass promoted group-wise advisor on strategic content.
