The Danish/French series starring Charlotte Rampling and Anders Berthelsen is created by The Killing’s Torleif Hoppe. Henrik Ruben Genz directs.

The 8x42’ event series DNA is a Danish/French co-production between Nordisk Film Production, Frenchkiss Pictures, TV2 Denmark and ARTE France, with co-financing from Newen Distribution, and support among others from Nordisk Film & TV Fond.

In the eight-part series inspired by real events, Berthelsen plays Rolf Larsen, once a respected criminal investigator at the CPH Police, who lost his daughter in a tragic accident. Rolf is devastated from grief, but soon it turns out that the National DNA register has a system failure. New information brings him hope that his daughter might be alive, and an unauthorised investigation leads Rolf on the trail of a case of illegal child trafficking.

Other key cast members include Zofia Wichlacz (1983 for Netflix) Nicolas Bro (The Bridge, The Killing) and Olivia Joof (Boogie).

Malika Abdellaoui, Managing Director at Newen Distribution said: “We’re extremely pleased to be teaming up with Nordisk Film and Frenchkiss on bringing to the international audiences such a character-driven and impacting series as DNA, with strong talents attached.”The series is currently filming in Denmark, the Czech Republic and France.

The French group Newen (part of TF1) has been ramping up its drama content strategy in recent years and taken stakes in independent production companies including Denmark’s Nimbus Film.
