Good Partners Media Group facilitates co-productions and helps secure financing across the region. NFTVF asks why the network is important right now in the Nordics.
The catchphrase when the Nordic film industry gathered at TV Drama Vision during the Göteborg Film Festival at the end of January was “Collaborate, create, captivate”. The message that the industry must work together to secure commissions and navigate an evolving industry landscape was clear.
The launch of Good Partners Media Group (GPMG) during Göteborg Film Festival was well-timed. GPMG is a new pan-Nordic production services supplier designed to support independent producers working in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, and Estonia. GPMG offers services and resources to facilitate co-productions, providing a centralised structure that helps producers avoid fragmented suppliers and contractual complexities.
NFTVF spoke with business developer Daniel Lägersten, who says that a network like this has been necessary in the Nordics, as regional financing is becoming an increasingly decisive factor in production planning and the path to getting projects greenlit.
“We know how tough it can be to get a project greenlit and how challenging it is to secure financing in the end. So, we gathered Good Partners Media Group to support shooting in the Nordics, wherever you need to be.”
GPMG is powered by Storyline Studios, and collaborates with several Nordic industry partners, including Angel Films, Istudios Visuals, GötaFilm, and Gothenburg Film Studios. This network provides access to film equipment, technical expertise, and production support across multiple locations.
“We simply assist the projects locally where it is most economical to film. This in itself is not new, but we provide security by getting involved earlier in the projects, offering consultation on the technical execution.”
Lägersten says that many interested producers have reached out since the launch, and that they’re already working with two projects. “For example, we have an American production that will start filming in Northern Norway and then continue in Finland. We will provide them with the exact same setup, including technology and personnel, in both countries, so they can travel from Norway and begin filming in Finland on the same day.”
Lägersten stresses that early-stage involvement is essential to maximise efficiency.
“We are most effective when we or one of our producers get involved early in the process, during the estimation of the project’s budget, because then we can contribute with our technical knowledge, leading to the most cost-effective solution. We are also happy to contribute to the financing strategy, and can work with multiple scenarios.”
