Stærmose's multi-plot drama set in a Copenhagen hotel will have its world premiere in Karlovy Vary ahead of its domestic release in October. Produced by Alphaville Pictures Copenhagen in co-production with Croatian Mainframe Production, Room 304 was just picked up for world sales by LevelK.
The Swedish photographer/filmmaker Peter Gerdehag has been selected for the Documentary competition section with Women with Cows, the story of two sisters whose lives revolve around a dozen cows. The film is playing very successfully on Swedish screens were it has sold over 40,000 tickets so far. Also screening is Denmark's award-winning The Good Life by Eva Mulvad. Both titles were supported by Nordisk Film & TV Fond.
Nordic films unspooling at ‘Another View' include Play, Volcano, The Erotic Man, The Mountain, and Nokas; the sidebar Horizons will screen Le Havre and Undercurrent; ‘2011 a Musical Odyssey' will play Sweden's The Extraordinary Ordinary Life of José González and Iceland's Backyard and the Norwegian chiller The Troll Hunter is set aside for a Midnight Screening.
In recent years, several Nordic directors have been awarded in Karlovy Vary. In 2009, the Grand Prix-Crystal Globe went to the Danish Henrik Ruben Genz (Terribly Happy). Two years earlier, it was Iceland's Baltasar Kormákur (Jar City) who picked the top award while Norway's Bård Breien (The Art of Negative Thinking) picked up Best Director.
