The Norwegian CGI animated film is the second title in the Cattle Hill film series from Qvisten Animation, to be handled by the Warsaw-based sales outfit.
The pre-school kid movie directed by Will Ashurst (Anchors Up) follows the adventures of the Calf Clara who has invited everyone for a Christmas party at Cattle Hill.
When her father is called away, she enlists help from the cheeky Christmas elf who lives in the barn, but at the same time, breaks all the rules about how to care for the elf, creating a scene of destruction on Christmas eve.
New Europe Film Sales managing director Jan Naszewski said: ‘I’m really excited to handle Christmas at Cattle Hill. The first film in the series [Cattle Hill] did great business worldwide.”
The film was sold to over 30 territories including Benelux (Just Film Distribution), UK and Ireland (Kaleidoscope Film Distribution), Russia and CIS (Ten Letters), South Korea (Company L), Turkey (Angel Film), USA (Samuel Goldwyn), Poland (New Horizons Association), France (Septième Factory), Greece (Neo Films), Spain (Pay Com), China (Melting Culture), and Middle East (Empire Network).
The Christmas sequel written by Ole Christian Solbakken was produced by Qvisten’s Heidi Palm Sandberg and Ove Heiborg, in co-production with Kristiansand Zoo and Amusement Park, support among others from Nordisk Film & TV Fond.
Palm Sandberg told nordicfilmandtvnews.com that animation on the film is “going along as scheduled” despite the Covid-19 outbreak. “We have been very creative with voice recording having had to adapt to social distancing,” she said.
The domestic theatrical release via SF Studios Norge is set for November 6, 2020.
