Per-Olav Sørensen is directing Ida Elise Broch, in Home for Christmas produced by The Oslo Company.

The series is currently filming in Rorøs, Norway. The 6-part series is written by Miriam Larsen, Mattis Herman Nyquist, Julie Skaufel, Fredrik Høyer and Per-Olav Sørensen, based on an idea by Amir Shaheen and Kristian Andersen. Anna Gutto co-directs.

The story focuses on Johanne (30) who is the only one among friends and family without a partner. The constant comments on her single life and society's expectations of the perfect family Christmas finally gets to her. She starts a 24-day hunt for a partner to bring home for Christmas.

Ida Elise Broch (The Third Eye) plays the title role and Felix Sandman (Quicksand), Kingsford Sayor and Mads Sjøgård Pettersen are her love interests. Other actors include Ghita Nørby, Christian Ruud Kallum, Dennis Storhøi, Anette Hoff, Iselin Shumba, Ulrikke Døvigen, Samantha Gurah, and Bjørn Skagestad.

Sørensen, the Norwegian director of Nobel, currently wrapping Netflix’s Swedish series Quicksand said: “With this extremely talented group of actors and writers we are very much looking forward to creating a drama comedy set to Christmas. Hopefully it will give the audience a feel good experience, something to laugh at, and hopefully something to think about. It is also a thrill to work with Netflix once more shortly after finishing Quicksand.”

Tesha Crawford, Director International Originals Northern Europe at Netflix said: ”We are excited about this fun, female-led story as we believe the universal themes of love, ambition and the struggle with expectations, especially around Christmas, will resonate with our audiences in the Nordic countries as well as the rest of the world. It’s a true honour to work with so many talented creators from all over the Nordic region and we are happy to continue our partnership with Per-Olav Sørensen.”

The Norwegian-language series is produced by Trond Kvernstrøm, Christian Steen and Anders Tangen for The Oslo Company.

Home for Christmas is the third Norwegian Original commissioned by the US giant streamer after Ragnarok created by Adam Price for SAM Productions, and the horror series Bloodride created by Kjetil Indregard for Monster Scripted.

The Netflix Swedish Original Quicksand produced by FLX premieres April 5, 2019.
