Valdimar Jóhannsson’s supernatural drama took home 12 awards out of 13 nominations at Sunday evening’s national film & TV awards in Reykjavik.
The film produced by Go to Sheep won in the heaviest categories including Best Film, Director, Script and Leading Actor (Hilmir Snær Guðnason). The supernatural drama which received the ‘Prize of Originality’ at the last Cannes Film Festival’s Un Certain Regard, is nominated for the Nordic Council Film Prize.
The second biggest winner at the national Edda Film & TV Awards was Síminn/Viaplay’s series Sisterhood produced by Sagafilm, which picked up Best Fiction Series, Best Actress in a Supporting Role (María Heba Þorkelsdóttir) and Best Actress in a Leading Role (Jóhanna Friðrika Sæmundsdóttir). Sisterhood was nominated for the Nordisk Film & TV Fond Prize-best screenplay of a Nordic drama series in 2021.
The full series is currently playing on Walter Presents in the UK and episode 1 aired on Channel 4 September 19 at 23.35.
