Matila Röhr-Nordisk Oy is the name of the new Finnish powerhouse production company set up jointly by MRP Matila Röhr Productions and Nordisk Film TV to make feature length films, TV entertainment and TV drama in Finland.

The majority shareholders of the new company will be under Finnish leadership based at MRP's headquarters in Helsinki, as of January 2009. Veteran producers Marko Röhr (photo) and Ilkka Matila (who already sold a minority share of their production company to the Egmont-owned Nordisk Film in 2005) will become shareholders of Matila Röhr-Nordisk Oy, alongside Antti Väisänen (Nordisk Film TV branch manager), and Scandinavian media giant Egmont.

Feature films will be produced under the name of Matila Röhr Productions and will be overseen by Röhr and Matila, while TV programmes, will be made under the name of Nordisk Film TV, to be administered by Väisänen.

"For a production company based in a country with its own small language, working only on feature films really limits your opportunities. We need to make TV drama as well, and by joining forces with a strong actor like Nordisk Film TV, we can now work on an international level as well,"commented Röhr.

Nordisk Film TV 's Väisänen also said: "By combining our forces, we will be able to better respond to the needs of the television channels and produce high-quality entertainment and dramas".

On the feature film side, MRP Matila Röhr Productions' latest film The Novelist is currently number six at the local Top Ten. The company has a big slate of films including Anders Engström's English language Priest of Evil and a new project by Klaus Härö (Mother of Mine).
