Three Scandinavian TV dramas have been selected for the 59th Monte-Carlo Television Festival to be held June 14-18, 2019.
The Swedish drama Moscow Noir (Black Spark Film & TV/C More-TV4) and Norwegian drama State of Happiness (Maipo Film/NRK) are both competing for Best TV drama series against strong European contenders: Bodyguard (UK), Killing Eve (UK), My Brilliant Friend (Italy) and Das Boot (Germany/Czech Republic).
Moscow Noir’s Adam Pålsson is competing against State of Happiness’ Amund Harboe, Bodyguard’s Richard Madden and Das Boot’s Tom Wlaschina for Best Actor in a Drama series, while State of Happiness’s Malene Wadel is vying against Bodyguard’s Keeley Hawes, Killing Eve’s Sandra Oh, and Das Boot’s Vicky Krieps for Best Actress.
In the Comedy category, the Norwegian show One Night produced by Viafilm for NRK is nominated for Best programme, while the two main actors Anders Baasmo Christiansen and Myanna Buring are competing in their respective categories.
The Golden Nymph winners will be announced in Monte-Carlo on June 18. During the closing ceremony, the festival will hand out a Crystal Nymph award to Michael Douglas.
