Filming is currently underway in Budapest. Homeland’s Baccarin plays the evil outer space leader whose plan is to invade the Earth. Swedish stand-up comedian and actor Johan Glans (Simple Heist, Swedish Dicks) is one of her loyal soldiers. John Noble (LOTR, Blacklist) is also part of the international cast. Chicago-born visual effect specialist Don Bitter who worked on House of Cards and The Maze Runner is attached to direct and create the special effects.
Home Invasion centres on a family, that strives to fit into society. They have been sent by their evil outer space leader to invade the Earth. But their true identity is soon revealed, when two burglars break into their home. The family, who is enjoying life on Earth, starts to have second thoughts about their assignment. With the help of the burglars, they decide to stop the evil aliens’ invasion.
Viaplay Chief Content Officer Jakob Mejlhede Andersen said Home Invasions will raise NENT’s conceptual and visual ambitions. “Unexpected meetings are at the heart of this highly entertaining series, which combines sci-fi with comedy and personal predicaments with cosmic conflict.” Brain Academy’s co-founder Petter Settman added: “Swedish Dicks was our first international-oriented production and we managed to import Swedes to the US. With Home Invasion, we’ve attracted Americans to film in Europe, which shows that great talents follow great content wherever it is created."
NENT-owned Brain Academy has another Viaplay series lined up for 2020: The Ambassador filmed in Swedish, Danish and Norwegian languages with a local cast.
