Moa Gammel is Ida, a young woman, trying to rescue her younger sister Tuva, trapped underwater after a rockslide in a remote part of Norway, on a cold Christmas day. Ida surfaces to call for help, only to realize that she and her sister are completely cut off - their mobile phones and car keys have been buried by the rockslide.
Producer Julie Gebauer of Way Creative Films says writer/director Hedén had Gammel in mind from an early stage, because of her acting range and ability to take on this extremely challenging physical role.
Filming set to start in January 2019, will take place mostly in Sweden (Västra Götaland), but also in Norway and at the Lites Water Stage & Film Studios in Belgium.
The SEK 34m (€3.3m) film is produced by Julia Gebauer and Jonas Sörensson of Way Creative Films, in co-production with Umedia (Belgium), Film Fond Nord (Norway), Film i Väst, SVT, Film i Skåne, and support from Nordisk Film & TV Fond. Nordisk Film will handle the domestic release.
