I’ll Be Home for Christmas (Jag kommer hem igen till Jul) will be the screen debut of established Swedish pop singer/actor Peter Jöback, known for his performance in The Phantom of the Opera both on Broadway and London’s West End stages. The film is based on his idea and personal experience, adapted for the screen by Daniel Karlsson (All Inclusive). Playing against Jöback are Johannes Bah Kuhnke (Force Majeure), Suzanne Reuter (The Restaurant), Jennie Silfverhjelm (Welcome to Sweden, All Inclusive), Loa Falkman (Livet i Fagervik), Anja Lundqvist (Modus, Alex) and Rennie Mirro (Real Humans).

The story tells of international star Simon who comes home to Sweden to celebrate Christmas. In the small community where he grew up, his brother Anders arranges the annual Christmas concert and Simon is persuaded to appear. Old memories resurface and Simon is soon confronted with buried family secrets.

Jöback says the film is “made to entertain with humour and music”, but will also address issues such as identity and acceptance. Miso Film Sweden’s managing director and producer Sandra Harms said: "This film is about what happens in most families over Christmas - you both love and hate each other more than ever and the efforts to have a good time are often hampered by the fact that it succeeds. In this case, there are also well-buried family secrets that slowly creep up to the surface.”

Some of the songs will be taken from Jöback’s top selling Christmas album ‘Jag kommer hem igen till Jul’.   The film is co-produced by Film i Väst and TV4, with support from the Swedish Film Institute. SF Studios will handle distribution across Scandinavia and international sales. Filming just started in Åre and Mellerud, Sweden.

Meanwhile Miso Film Sweden’s upcoming TV drama Box 21 is based on a crime novel by crime novels by the Swedish best-selling writers Roslund & Hellström. The first in four original shows about police inspector Ewert Grens, is directed by Modus’ Mani Maserrat, from a script by Dennis Magnusson (Jordskott), Stefan Thunberg (Wallander) and author Anders Roslund. The series about human trafficking, follows two young women who seek revenge on the men who lured them from eastern Europe to Sweden with false promises of a better life. Meanwhile, a mysterious figure takes hostages in a Stockholm hospital morgue. Inspector Ewert Grens (Leonard Terfelt from The Bridge) struggles to untangle a complex and deadly web of secrets.

The Scandinavian cast also comprises Finland’s Mimosa Willamo (Aurora, Deadwind), Sweden Simon J. Berger (Hidden), Joakim Sällquist (Goliath), Sandra Andreis (The Sandhamn Murders) and Ellen Jelinek (Miss Friman’s War).

Filming will take place between Sweden and Romania. Box 21 will premiere on NENT’s streaming service Viaplay in 2020.
