Seasoned producer Kristin Ulseth joins the Norwegian outpost of the Scandinavian content powerhouse as part of the company’s expansion.
Ulseth - a former NRK Drama and Nordisk Film & TV Fond employee - has worked the last 17 years at Maipo Film on various films and TV dramas including The Art of Negative Thinking, Alfie Atkins and State of Happiness. She said she felt ready for a change and motivated to join Miso Film Norway due to its national and international prospective. At Miso Film Norway, she joins producers Bendik Heggen Strønstad, Cecilie Aspenes and managing director Are Heidenstrøm who all integrated the company within the last two years.
Fremantle owned Miso Film’s Norwegian outfit has been ramping up its activities since 2018, both in film and TV drama.
“Miso Film's expansion comes at a time when the market is shifting,” said Heidenstrøm. “We are upgrading to increase the breadth and quality of our projects during the creative process. A strong producer team gives us the flexibility to meet the increased demand for quality content across multiple genres and across platforms.”
Fremantle handles global distribution on both Tainted and Seizure.
Miso Film Norway’s next premium show is the whistle-blower thriller Witch Hunt co-created by Acquitted’s Siv Rajendram and Anna Bache-Wiig. The ambitious series is TV2 Norway’s New Year primetime drama.
The company’s first feature film @Chica Chile Norway (working title) based on Navarro Skaranger’s novel Alle utlendinger har lukka gardiner (All the Foreigners Have their Curtains Closed) is currently in the editing room. The coming-of-age drama stars Skam’s Cengiz Al and Serhat Yildirim (from NRK’s youth series 18). SF Studios will release it domestically on March 6, 2020.
