The MipDrama award acknowledging the series writing, production values, originality, and their worldwide appeal was voted upon by MIPTV’s registered buyers.

ZDF Enterprises’ Robert Franke, VP of Drama said: “We are thrilled to hear that the international buyers community feels exactly the same we felt about Agatha Christie’s Sven Hjerson when we entered the project and have selected it as their ‘Coup de Cœur’ at this year‘s MipDrama.“

B-Reel Films (B-RF)‘s Head of Drama Ulf Synnerholm added: “It is with genuine pride that we now see how we seem to have succeeded in both creating and renewing Agatha Christie's fantastic heritage. And of course, it is an enormous honour to receive this Coup de Coeur, while competing with so many candidates. The award is undoubtedly a powerful confirmation that the project has strong potential in the international drama market.”

The elevated series which started off from a chance encounter in a cab in Cannes between Agatha Christie Limited’s Creative Director Basi Akpabio and C More/TV4’s Head of Drama Josefine Tengblad, (see our story - CLICK HERE), is due to premiere on C More/TV4 in the fall.

In the modern crime series featuring the meta-character Sven Hjerson, fictional Finnish detective invented by the British novelist’s own fictional crime writer Ariadne Oliver, Johan Rheborg plays the title role next to Hanna Alström (Kingsman-The Secret Service), cast as a TV producer.

The 8x44’ show consisting of four murder inquiries, is directed by Lisa James Larsson (Britannia, Victoria), as well as Lisa Farzaneh (Quicksand, Tog Dog). BR-F’s Patrik Gyllström created and co-wrote the series together with Björn Paqualin (Blue Eyes, Hassel), Jakob Beckman (I am Zlatan) and Martin Luuk (Four Shades of Brown),

The series is produced by B-RF, in association with London-based Agatha Christie Limited (ACL), the government of Åland, in co-production with Germany’s Nadcon, support from Nordisk Film & TV Fond and Creative Europe. ZDFE handles global sales.
