The Swedish/French TV drama Midnight Sun triumphed at the Roma Fiction Fest, picking up three awards including Best New TV Drama.

Co-Creators Måns Mårlind and Björn Stein who were on hand to receive the award also picked up Best Director and Best Script.

The jury of the 10th Roma Fiction Fest (December 7-11) was headed by Oscar-winning US actor Richard Dreyfuss. A total of 10 international TV dramas were competing, including Belgium’s Public Enemy and Australia’s The Kettering Incident.

The Swedish/French high concept thriller produced by Sweden’s Nice Drama and France’s Atlantique Production has been a smash hit for co-producing broadcasters Canal+ in France ad SVT in Sweden. The eight part series was the highest rated Original Creation for Canal+ since The Tunnel in 2013 and on SVT it opened to a strong 39.7% share, with au audience of 1.8 million.

Internationally, the thriller starring Leïla Bekhti, Gustaf Hammarsten and Peter Stormare has been sold to a dozen territories. Studiocanal closed the latest deal with Russia’s free-to-air broadcaster Channel One.
