Reykjavik-based Pegasus Pictures is co-producing the US survival thriller

Arctic will be sold internationally by XYZ Films.

The Danish star plays a man, stranded in the arctic following a tragic accident. He must decide whether to remain in the relatively safe environment of his camp or embark on a perilous trek to look for rescue and potential salvation. The film is directed by Joe Penna who co-wrote the script with Ryan Morrison.

Armory Films and Union Entertainment Group are producing. Martha De Laurentiis who produced Mads Mikkelsen’s vehicle Hannibal, is exec producer, together with Pegasus’ Einar Thorsteinsson and Cassian Elwes (Dallas Buyers Club).

Arctic was shot in Iceland with a majority Icelandic crew. XYZ Films will introduce the film in Cannes. The sales company represents as well Baltasar Kormákur’s Icelandic thriller The Oath.
